The Years 1 and 2 cookery after-school club came to a very successful conclusion with a Fair Trade tea and coffee afternoon for the parents of our budding bakers. During the sessions, the children have baked a variety of dishes including apple crumble, savoury cheese tarts, fruit smoothies, Italian Dessert and pizza. For the last session they baked jam tarts using Fair Trade products, and then served them to their parents.
The children have learnt about healthy eating, safety and hygiene in the kitchen and have developed a range of skills including chopping, rolling pastry, mixing ingredients, etc. They have also enjoyed sampling their freshly baked products at the end of each session.
